Finally Wearing Shoes!

Laynie's feet are finally big enough for all her size 2 shoes (she has six pairs)! Up to this point she had just been wearing her blessing shoes and one pair of sandals. That is some seriously cute chub above those Mary Janes!
All that standing made her tired. She totally crashed in Grandpa Rick's arms. Too cute!

Cooking Monster

Don't tell Jamie, but Gavin has a flair for the culinary arts...or maybe he just likes to lick the beaters. Today he helped me make cookies for a family in our ward. Cooking with him is such an adventure!

I love that he has started wearing one of my old t-shirts for all his "messy" activities. I've got to get that washed...

Bath Buddies

I've figured out how to cut bath time (and water usage) in half! Bathe the two of them together. Laynie has the cutest little bath chair that she sits in that holds her upright. She thinks it is so much fun!

Gav loves to put bubbles on Laynie's head. She doesn't mind too much.

School Days

Today we pulled out Gavin's "work book" to practice letters, numbers and matching. I outfitted him in one of my old T-shirts to protect his clothes from the dry erase marker.

He doesn't really get the concept of "tracing" yet...we'll keep working on it.

Calm Before the Storm

If it weren't for the weather service, we'd never known that a hurricane was headed our way.

As the sun set, the wind started to pick up. The weather changed from beautiful to scary in such a short amount of time. Too bad it was too dark to film the tree in our front yard when the wind really got blowing. That would have been something to see!

Sucker

Yes, those are her toes in her mouth!

Bumps and Bruises

So as we are awaiting the arrival of our first major Wallace Family Hurricane, (take a hike IKE!)we had our own little disaster last night. I was finishing some last minute preparations when I heard Gavin's little feet pitter-pattering through the entryway, followed by a crash and a scream. I ran. He was kneeling with both hands covering his face. In my mind I was thinking, "C-R-A-P!!" When I pulled his hands back, I was surprised to find no blood, but horrified by the awful bruise and bump. He had slipped on the tile and fell face-first into the laundry room door frame. I was afraid that he might have a concussion, but his eyes were normal and he was playing trucks ten minutes later. As you can see (below) he was a happy camper this morning, eating waffles in his high chair, despite looking like he has a golf ball stuffed in his cheek.

Do the Do-Rag!

Hey MeMe! Remember all those days when I dressed you up, did you hair and made you look ridiculous? Well, now I'm doing it to my own baby! We'll have to find the pictures I took of you with the orange bandanna tied around your head so people can see exactly what I'm talking about! Love you!!

Practice Makes Perfect...or Not!

So, we decided to do family pictures. And I thought it would be super cute to do Laynie's hair curly. So I practiced...

And she practiced posing...really, I did not take this picture upside down.

Then she got irritated. Mom, for future reference, your "quit bugging me face" looks just like that.

Then she got tired.

And then I decided it wasn't worth it. So we bought two huge bows and put her hair in piggies. She looked SUPER cute!! Too bad Gavin was naughty...
